Preventative Education for Students

Promoting healthy decisions to prevent the spread of HIV and STIs

Cempa Talks is a youth ambassador program designed to help alleviate the health disparities of HIV and STIs among the African American youth in the inner-city area of Chattanooga. This program increases education and awareness about HIV and STIs, establish peer-to-peer education, and increase testing of HIV and STIs among our African American youth.

Cempa TALKS Programs & Outreach Initiatives

Cemple Expressions

Cempa’s Cemple Expressions fights social disparities and improves health outcomes for Chattanooga’s inner-city minority community by providing awareness and education of a healthy lifestyle with weekly yoga sessions, healthy snacks, and mental health therapy sessions to African American youth.

Empowerment Sessions Program for Teen Girls

Teen girls will be able to apply the core values of Self-Confidence, Self-Awareness, Self-Discipline, and how to Take Charge in One’s Health to their lives – building better friendships and relationships with others. By understanding YOUR Values & Morals, you will develop a level of Self-Respect allowing you to stay motivated throughout your educational career and beyond. Building upon each of these components, Self-Love teaches young girls to operate by making their own choices protecting their mental, physical, and sexual health and not being moved or motivated by peer pressure.

Conversations That Move

Cempa Community Care’s Outreach Services team member, Kia Ruffin, sits down with community leaders for meaningful conversations about the importance of empowering our youth through mind, body and wellness topics.

Cempa TALKS Mind Reach

As COVID-19 spread across the country last year, teenagers found themselves shifting to an unfamiliar world of remote learning so leaders from Chattanooga program developed a podcast to help teenagers whose lives changed overnight during the coronavirus pandemic. The goal of the MindReach podcast is to make resources and conversations with mental health professionals available for teens struggling. Cempa Community Care and the Cempa TALKS team continues the podcast after Leadership Chattanooga completed their series.
