Chris Ramsey’s Legacy
In February of 2021, council leadership unanimously agreed to update their name and branding to honor the life and legacy of founding member Chris Ramsey, who passed away after a long-fought battle with COVID-19 in January of 2021.
According to Cempa CEO Shannon Stephenson, Ramsey’s truest passion was addressing and finding solutions to the health disparities of Chattanooga’s minority communities. Chris’s fingerprints can still be found on innumerable health and wellness initiatives to combat health disparities all across Chattanooga, and his impact will continue long beyond his time here on earth.
“Chris Ramsey believed in and prepared the next generation,” said LaDarius Price, Cempa community outreach manager and council founding member. “He was a dedicated servant, ensuring that we were in the right place, equipped with the tools and resources needed to succeed. Chris was committed to serve without bias or prejudice, and he made a lasting impact in my life and the lives of every person he encountered.”
