What’s your current position and what do you do?
Robert Morris joined TVA in March, 2015 as the Site Materials Manager at Brown Ferry Nuclear (BFN) Plant. In March 2016, he was promoted to Sr. Manager, Nuclear Materials, responsible for the Materials Management groups at all three Nuclear Sites. In 2017, Robert and his husband, Jeff, relocated to Chattanooga. Also in 2017, Robert participated in TVA’s Strategic Leadership Program. In April 2019, Robert was promoted to Director of Content and Communications Operations.
Professional Accomplishments/Honors Received:
Prior to joining TVA, Robert held positions over the past 25 years ranging from Buyer/Expeditor to Vice President of Supply Chain and Program Management in various industries including Defense and Aerospace, Space Launch Systems, Automotive, Telecommunications, Medical, and Consumer Electronic Manufacturing. Involved in 2 new plant start-ups, successfully transitioning from “Greenfield” sites to production operations. Robert has strong systems backgrounds with multiple ERP systems including implementation, deployment and sustainment, and with supplier/customer communication tools.
Robert is a results and profit focused leader with extensive background in creating, implementing and optimizing supply chain and lean operational strategies. Proven skills in multi-million dollar contract negotiations, managing customer relationships, and implementation of Lean & Six Sigma operational best practices. Strong skills in supplier development, organizational assessment, and developing and leading cross functional teams. Robert has a strong entrepreneurial spirit and embraces a Continuous Improvement Mindset, challenging the status quo – what was good enough yesterday is not good enough for today.
Robert is a member of the Spectrum ERG Corporate Core Team, and previously served as the BFN Site Lead for Spectrum, the BFN Executive Sponsor for the Diversity and Inclusion, and the Steering Committee for Men Enabling iNclusion (MEN), a subgroup of the Diversity and Inclusion Council. Robert co-facilities Respectful Workplace Workshops with the TVA Equal Opportunity Compliance office.
