Shannon Burger Wins Executive Leadership Award from TPCA!
Our very own CEO, Shannon Burger, recently received the Kathy Wood-Dobbins Executive Leadership Award from the Tennessee Primary Care Association (TPCA).
According to the TPCA, “This award recognizes an individual, either a member or non-member of the Association, who, within their role as executive leader of an organization, advocates vigorously for health centers and their patients, resulting in support and recognition of the quality primary care provided by health centers in our Tennessee communities.”
Shannon has been leading the team here at Cempa for the past eight years, and during that time, she’s overseen milestone after milestone as our organization has worked to identify community health needs and adapt to meet them. A few of our achievements under Shannon’s leadership include:
- Numerous service line expansions, including the opening of:
- Our first community pharmacy
- A walk-in clinic in partnership with MetMin
- A new dental clinic
- Cempa’s Mobile Clinic
- Organizational and individual awards and recognitions, including:
- Latino Community Champion Award (La Paz Chattanooga, 2023)
- Champions of Health Care; Group Diversity & Inclusion Award (Edge Magazine, 2023)
- Nonprofit of the Year (Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, 2022)
- Best Places to Work (Edge Magazine, 2022)
- Organizational Excellence Award (TN Primary Care Assoc., 2021)
- 20 Under 40 (Edge Magazine, 2020)
- Governor’s Award of Excellence (Gov. Bill Lee, 2020)

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg!
We could go on and on about Shannon’s accomplishments, but we’ll wrap it up here. Join us in congratulating her on this outstanding achievement. Well done, Shannon! We’re so proud of you.
