Leading the way in care for People Living with HIV since 1986, Cempa Community Care (formerly Chattanooga CARES) was founded to provide social service advocacy, care, and assistance to those impacted by HIV/AIDS.

In 2002, Cempa Community Care opened a primary care clinic offering medical treatment and services specialized for HIV healthcare. Since its inception, the Cempa Community Care Clinic has grown to offer a full range of services.

The clinic is open 40 hours weekly. The clinic is closed daily from 12:00 – 12:30PM. Staff are available for emergencies.

  • Physical Exams, Diagnostic Testing & Health Screenings: In addition to annual screenings / tests vital to your HIV treatment, Cempa provides diagnostic testing and examinations for preventative care to detect any co-occurring health risks.

  • Medication Adherence Counseling: Focusing on person-centered best practices Cempa’s Client Viral Load Suppression is above 92%. Cempa’s staff works with clients to develop medication adherence plans and provide support services so that you can achieve your goals. 

  • Mental Health Counseling: Licensed Clinical Social Workers provide clients individualized treatment modalities (ex. Acceptance & Commitment Therapy or EMDR) to assist or guide clients toward resolving personal, social, or psychological problems.

  • Case Management: Cempa’s Medical Case Management staff coordinates a comprehensive continuum of care to assist clients in obtaining an optimum of care. This can be done by providing, coordinating, and assuring social support necessary to assist clients in maintaining their prospective health, safety, and well-being. With access to programs like Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program allows Cempa to provide food, housing and transportation assistance to those living with HIV.

  • Nutritional Counseling: Work with a Registered Dietitian to evaluate your nutritional needs and create individualized health goals based on medical history, medication side effects, or a co-occurring diagnosis. Learn More.
