Giving the Gift of Love to the Chattanooga Community This Holiday Season
When you think about the holiday season, gifts probably come to mind. Both the giving and receiving of presents is a traditional part of December for many people.
While receiving presents can certainly be joyful, there’s nothing quite like giving back during this time of year. This season offers an opportunity to pause and reflect on your blessings — and to give of your time and finances when you’re able.
Our mission here at Cempa Community Care is exactly that: We strive to provide care and support for those within our community who might otherwise do without.
And with the holiday season in full swing, we’d like to offer you an opportunity to do the same!
Your Chance to Spread a Little Joy
On Thursday, Dec. 16, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church, Cempa will host our annual Christmas party, ringing in the season with our clients.
Anyone who receives care or services through Cempa is welcome to attend the event along with their family, where we will host a “walk-through” style party. At the event, guests will be able to stop by multiple tents, offering refreshments, goodie bags, a take-home meal, and crafts for families.
The last tent will feature a special guest — Santa Claus! Santa’s in the business of making kids’ dreams come true, which is where you can help.
“For some clients, this may be the only opportunity to get their children gifts, or it may even be the only Christmas celebration they have,” says Rachel Inman, Director of Support Services at Cempa. “Each year, we make a wishlist for kids that includes both wants and needs. I see the joy these gifts bring to kids’ lives — it’s incredibly touching.”
Want to help fill up Santa’s bag of toys? It’s as simple as the click of a button:
- Fulfill wishes through Amazon.
- Fulfill wishes through Walmart.
Once you make a purchase, it will be delivered directly to Cempa, where the item will be wrapped and then gifted.
“Growing up as a kid, we used to sponsor a family and buy Christmas for them,” Inman says. “This is a version of that. As a steward of your finances and resources, you can do whatever you’re able to give back and show your children the art of giving and compassion to others.”
Looking for other ways to give back this holiday season? You can also make a general donation to Cempa or specifically to the Cempa Children’s Fund by selecting that option in the dropdown menu.
