Whole-Person Care: What It Really Means at Cempa

When you were a kid, did you ever sing about how the “foot bone’s connected to the leg bone, the leg bone’s connected to the knee bone,” and so on? That song tells the story of your skeleton, but it also paints an accurate picture of your overall health.

Your health isn’t one single entity: It encompasses multiple parts, all interconnected with each other. At Cempa Community Care, we’re committed to offering care for the whole person, ensuring that your total health and wellness are fully supported.

What exactly does that mean? It means we provide multiple services for those in our community, and our providers work together to care for your physical, mental, and emotional health needs.

A Look at Cempa’s Services

Our mission is to provide high-quality, affordable care to everyone in our community. The first step toward doing that is spreading the word about the care we offer, so that anyone who is in need knows what we can provide.

Here’s a look at our services:

  • Primary Care. A primary care provider (PCP) can be your go-to resource for healthcare, helping to treat and prevent chronic disease and acute illnesses. Seeing a PCP regularly for checkups can help you keep an eye on your overall health. Your PCP can also refer you for screenings and specialty care when needed.
  • Infectious Disease Services. Part of our mission is providing care for infectious diseases, including HIV and hepatitis. Through Cempa, you can access testing for sexually transmitted diseases, as well as preventive and treatment services. These services can be accessed through our walk-in clinic and through the care of a Cempa PCP.
  • Dental Services. Your oral health, including your dental hygiene, is a key part of your overall health. At Cempa, we offer a wide range of dental services, from cleanings and X-rays to fillings and minor oral surgery. We can even get you set up with partials and dentures when needed.
  • Pharmacy Services. If you need medications to help you manage a health condition, you can get those through Cempa as well. We offer a full-service, on-site pharmacy where you can have prescriptions filled, talk with a pharmacist about the medications you take, and ask questions about prescriptions and over-the-counter meds. Prescription delivery is also available.
  • Behavioral Health. Mental health often takes a backseat to physical health, but it’s just as important when it comes to your overall wellness. Part of our commitment to providing whole-person care is offering behavioral health services, which encompass care for mental health and substance use disorders, along with social support. This includes both individual counseling and group therapy when needed.

Each of these services is provided by health professionals with special expertise, and those providers work as a team to give our patients collaborative, well-rounded care.

At Cempa, we care for the whole person, each and every day. Learn more about the services we provide, including our hours of operation and contact information, or schedule an appointment here
