Chattanooga health center sees major percentage jump in employees eligible for vaccination

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — As Hamilton County’s Health Department continues to add to their COVID-19 vaccination rollout at the Tennessee Riverpark, including adding two more days to the schedule and discontinuing the requirement for a ‘vaccine allocation card,’ one Chattanooga health center is already seeing the benefit from the county’s increased supply of vaccines.

Cempa Community Care‘s CEO Shannon Stephenson tells us that over the weekend, the Health Department originally told them there’d be enough supply to vaccinate 15 percent of Cempa’s 75 eligible 1a1 workers.

Then, plans changed.

On Tuesday morning, that percentage quickly shot up to 100 percent. In an email, Stephenson said the Health Department told her all her staff would now be eligible to get the shot on site.

“So it actually worked out perfectly,” Stephenson said.

That includes 69-year-old Ron Hodges, who went through the 30-minute process to get his shot on Tuesday.
