Community Health Fair
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn (WDEF) –A multi-organization community health fair was set up on East 11th street to offer their services to our local homeless community.
Organizations such as Cempa, choices network, planned parenthood, and the Chattanooga free store offered multiple services for free.
The organizations offered free HIV testing, Covid vaccines, free food, free safe sex kits, and hygiene products.
Organizers say this event was all about proofing safety within the community
“It’s important to meet people where they are at and come to them. Because of this pandemic homelessness has risen and there are more homeless camps in the area. We try to come out and help out at the day center in the community kitchen. It’s important that we are here with them and meeting them where they are at,” says Amanda Paul, Cempa Community Care.
If you missed the event you are welcome to walk into Cempa’s Prevention Services Department to receive medical treatment and they host a COVID-19 vaccine event every Wednesday.
All food given out by Cempa was provided by the Saint Elmo United Methodist Church.
