Leading the way in care for people living with HIV for thirty-four years, Cempa Community Care has grown into a Community Health Care Center dedicated to helping ALL people fight ALL illnesses. Guided by our vision of “A Community where everyone has access to equitable healthcare,” we provide treatment, prevention, and support services to address health disparities, with a focus on primary and infectious disease care.

Our mission is to champion healthy communities by providing affordable, compassionate, and high-quality care through advancing comprehensive support services and person-centered best practices.

Cempa Community Care provides holistic care through a wide range of services designed to address the needs of those affected by health disparities, including:

  • Cempa Community Care Clinic provides comprehensive services to underserved populations, including primary and infectious disease care, mental health and nutritional counseling, lab services, and preventive health such as HIV and Hepatitis C testing, as well as PrEP and PEP. We serve low-income, uninsured, and underinsured patients, ensuring care is accessible to all, regardless of ability to pay, with payment plans available.

  • Cempa Community Care Dental offers services for adults and children, including routine cleanings, x-rays, fillings, minor oral surgery, and treatment for gingivitis and gum health. We provide care to low-income, uninsured, and underinsured patients, ensuring services are accessible to all with payment plans available for those unable to pay in full. 

  • Cempa Community Pharmacy bridges the gap between healthcare providers and pharmacists, specializing in HIV, Hepatitis C, PrEP, and PEP. We offer medication delivery, therapy management, and a full range of prescriptions to enhance coordinated care. Clinic patients on the sliding fee scale are also eligible for a prescription discount program. 

  • Prevention & Harm Reduction Program – includes STEP-TN. This program aims to reduce the spread of HIV, Hepatitis C, and other blood-borne infections. 

  • Support Services coordinate a comprehensive continuum of care that links clients to case management, vision and dental, housing, transportation, and treatment for mental health and substance use disorders. 

A primary responsibility of serving on Cempa Community Care’s Board of Directors is to participate in the development of policy and major decision-making at board meetings held monthly. Other key responsibilities include ensuring that the organization has the resources that it needs to fulfill its mission.

A Cempa Board Member position may require a time commitment of up to four hours per month.

Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • Is a partner with the Chief Executive Officer in achieving the organization’s mission.

  • Extensive professional experience with significant executive leadership accomplishments in healthcare, business, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector.

  • A commitment to and understanding of Cempa Community Care’s clients, preferably based on experience.

  • Diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals.

  • Personal qualities of compassion, empowerment, excellence, integrity, unity, and a passion for improving the lives of Cempa Community Care’s clients.
